Based in Kaohsiung Taiwan, Horizon was established in 1987 by CEO John Lu, who has a deep-rooted passion for boats and a love of the ocean that stems from childhood. After graduating from the National Taiwan Ocean University with a degree in naval architecture, Lu returned to his hometown of Kaohsiung to gain experience in yacht industry. His success as a naval architect led to the decision to establish Horizon, with the goal to build clients their ultimate dream yacht - a goal that remains unchanged to this day. Lu continued expanding Horizon from 2000 to 2005, he restructured Horizon's other three companies - Atech Composites, Vision Yachts and Premier Yacht -- and assigned each its own build concentration to build the luxury motor yachts from 52 to 160 feet that are celebrated for their unparalleled craftsmanship, innovative engineering, outstanding design, and extraordinary quality. Today, Horizon is the largest yacht-building group in Taiwan and has been chosen "Best-Asian Motor Yacht Builder" in Asian Boating Awards for the sixth year in a row since 2006. In addition, Horizon is the only one qualified megayacht builder in the Far East to become a member of SYBAss (Superyacht Builders Association). Moreover, Horizon's dedication in larger boat market brings its position to be one of the top 10 world's largest megayacht builders.
