＜Tungsten Carbide-Nickel Coating＞
Tungsten carbide coatings are resistant to fretting, abrasion, hammer(impact) and sliding wear. Tungsten carbide-nickel series coatings are most often used for abrasion-resistant applications in dry environments. The operating temperatures is recommended below 500 °C (930 °F). The corrosion resistance of WC-Ni is generally better than WC-Co coatings in similar environments, but WC-Co-Cr system behaves better then these two. In tungsten carbide cermet system, the absence of cobalt allows the coatings to be used in radioactive environments. HVOF sprayed WC-Ni coatings are dense and have good bond strength. Structure of the coatings are more homogeneous than coatings applied by atmospheric plasma spray(APS) or combustion powder coatings without fusion.
Typical uses and applications include ball valves in oxidizing environments, gate valves, landing gears, mid-span stiffeners, extrusion dies, exhaust fans, pump housings, steel rolls, sucker rod couplings oil field equipment and arts used in submerged seawater conditions.
