＜Tungsten Carbide – Nickel Chromium Self-fluxing Coating＞
Self-fluxing alloy is a type of material which has lower melting-temperature and functions of self-deoxidization and self-slag formation when melting. Self-fluxing alloys can basically be characterized as a group of Ni(Cr)BSi-alloys with high temperature brazing characteristics. Ni may in some cases be substituted by Co or by Fe. Materials consist of a self-fluxing alloy can be blended with a hard phase such as tungsten carbide in a cobalt or nickel matrix. The features are resistant to fretting, particle erosion and abrasive. Firstly, the material is applied by thermal spray and then fused to form a metallurgically bonded coating that is dense and has minimal porosity and oxides. During thermal spray process, the alloy forms a metallurgical bond with the substrate. Therefore, the dense coatings performs resistant to wear and corrosion up to medium temperatures. The feature is favorable and adaptable for hardfacing gears, dies, valves and mechanical components vulnerable to wear and abrasion.
These coatings are designed with various amounts of hard phase and matrixes for the desired wear application and environment. The coating may be applied to mild steels, heat-treatable steels, stainless steels and nickel-based alloys. These alloy coatings are used in turbo-machinery, automotive, petrochemical, hydroelectric and agricultural applications on components such as plug gages, pump seals, cam followers, rocker arms, exhaust fans, piston rods, shafts, wire-drawing capstans and hydroelectric valves.
