Introduced from the Assam Province of India, the large-leaf species of Assam tea is planted in Taiwan. The black tea made from Assam's big leaf is bright and red, with aroma and sweetness. It has a strong taste and is produced from the Nantou area. Black tea is comparable to big leaf species, black tea of India and Sri Lanka originating in Assam, and the Sun Moon Lake black tea made by it has a local flavor.
