<Sliding Wear Resistant Coating>
Thermal spray coatings are widely applied to surfaces to improve the surface characteristics and reduce wear or to modify friction during sliding contact. For the extensive use in gas turbines ,oil industry and steel industry, sliding or erosion between one or more bodies are commonly encountered.
Contributes of sliding wear are mechanical loading, surrounding chemical, temperature, and condition of lubricant. Sliding wear is frequently encountered in automotive and heavy-duty piston ring applications, transmission systems, automotive and cylinder bores applications, hydraulic rods for earth moving system, and landing gears for mainframe aerospace applications that replace hard chrome plating, automobile synchronizer rings and transmission systems.
When sliding contact of material is under conditions with high temperature, oxidation will play a an important role and result to higher wear rate. These issues were encountered in large number of engineering applications such as metal forming operation and gas turbine engines.
