SELECTION CRITERIA: The proper criteria for media tank selection must consider the flow rates through individual tanks during backflusing operations. During backflusing of a 2tank system, a single tank must filter all the water for the irrigation system plus the backflush water, which is more flow than a single tank is designed for (indicated flow rate 37-61m3/h for 1m2 surface). By choosing a minimum of 3 tanks, there is less strain on the system during backflusing.
