The interface dimensions for SMA connectors are listed in the US military regulation MIL-STD-348. SMA connectors use a 1/4 inch diameter threaded sleeve with 36 threads per inch.
The center pin of a standard polarity SMA male connector is surrounded by a cylinder with internal threads, and the center sleeve of a standard SMA female connector is surrounded by a cylinder with external threads. Our high-quality SMA connectors are rated for up to 500 mating cycles, but to achieve this, the correct torque value must be used when connecting. Flats are also provided on the cable side of the connector assembly so that a second wrench can be used to prevent it from rotating and damaging the connector to the cable.
