<High Velocity Oxygen Fuel(HVOF)>
High Velocity Oxygen Fuel (HVOF) coating is a thermal spray process used to improve surface properties or restore dimensions of components. Life time of operating components will be prolonged significantly by promoting resistant to erosion, wear and corrosion.
During the HVOF process, molten and semi-molten materials are sprayed onto the surface by means of the high temperature, high velocity gas stream to form a dense structure with high surface finish. Coating materials of HVOF process includes metals, alloys and ceramics. The coatings have exceptional hardness, outstanding adhesion to the substrate material and providing substantial wear resistance and corrosion protection. Current applications of HVOF sprayed coating including aircraft components that include landing gear pistons and axle journals, hydraulic rods, slat and flap tracks, engine shaft journals, and other external components that are subjected to wear environments. In an erosive-corrosive environment, HVOF sprayed tungsten carbide-cobalt chromium (WC-CoCr) and chromium carbide-nickel chromium (Cr3C2-NiCr) are frequently recommended.
The current industrial standard as an alternative to electrolytic hard chrome (EHC) is WC-CoCr, whereas Cr3C2-NiCr is suitable to mitigate abrasive and erosive wear up to 850℃. The cermet coatings consist of wear-resistant carbide particles embedded within the metallic binder matrix to form a corrosion-resistant and wear-resistant coating. In particular, chromium in WC-CoCr coatings forms a oxide scale that protects the coating matrix from dissolution. Cr3C2-NiCr coatings have good corrosion-resistant property in sodium chloride solution under sliding wear. Metal binder is essential to be considered to promote the coating durability.
Plus Metal Tech (PMT) provides services of protective and functional coatings, such as wear-resistant, corrosion-resistant, erosion-resistant, conductive and insulative coatings. Our thermal coating service is fully customized. Process choices depend on customer’s demands and the chosen materials. For any questions about surface treatment and enhancement, please do not hesitate to give us the message or email. We welcome for the discussion with you.
