IV. Measurement Parameters
i. SMD(Sauter Mean Diameter)
SMD defined as the following formula;
Di: particle diameter, ni: spray particle number
SMD is defined as the ratio of the volume and surface area of the droplets, such an average particle
diameter D32 is usually expressed as the main factors of the droplet evaporation:
iii. droplet volume : V
iv. droplet surface area: S
Therefore, SMD can objectively judge the duration of droplets evaporate into a gas, and the pros and
cons of a nozzle designed.
ii. Dv10
Dv10 As in spray particle size volume distribution chart, the cumulative volume accounted for 10%
by volume of all particles, the particle size corresponding to size。
iii. Dv50(Median Mean Diameter)
Dv50 As in spray particle size volume distribution chart, the cumulative volume accounted for 50%
by volume of all particles, the particle size corresponding to size。
iv. Dv90
Dv90 As in spray particle size volume distribution chart, the cumulative volume accounted for 90%
by volume of all particles, the particle size corresponding to size。
v. Size Ratio
SR Spray particle size ratio, which is defined as:
SR = Dv90/Dv10,Used to determine the range of the particle size distribution,the value represents
the smaller the particle size distribution more uniform。Spray angle shows the angle of a nozzle ejected
from the perspective of expansion.It can determine the range covered by mist
