- The IDC semi-automatic cable terminator is designed according to a modular approach. The basic machine which exists out of a desk top mechanical unit,a control unit with touch screen and accepts different types of toolkits. Each toolkit is dedicated to a certain application. For more information related to the toolkits, please refer to the BPY selector.
- Double head machine which allows the insertion of two wires simultaneously. The insertion heads are fully independend controlled. As such, each head can apply a different wire type during the same insertion cycle. E.g.: an AWG 26 drain wire on the left side, and an AWG 26 insulated wire on the right side of the connector. In this equation, we assume that the applied connector accepts the mentioned wire configuration.
- By means of a unique wire guiding system, the IDC cable terminator can insert different sections of both insulated and uninsulated wires. The machine accepts a wide variety of wire insulation types.
- Position increment of the IDC connector in process versus the insertion heads: 0.0125 mm
- The position of the connector in process, left- and right wire guides, left- and right head position wagons and the left- and right insertion punches are driven by means of stepping motors.
- Ability to perform different wire insertion depths to cope with different connector and wire combinations.
- The cable terminator is equipped with a connector nest that keeps the connector in process in the correct position versus the cable.
- A cable clamp keeps the cable in a fixed position versus the connector.
- Based on the type of the basic machine, both connector nest and cable clamp are replaceable by dedicated types.
- Due to the fixed position of the cable clamp versus the connector nest, the assembly of the dust-hood or shielding cover can be performed without experiencing difficulties.
- The cable terminator allows easy step by step programming. By means of a graphical interface, the operator can learn the machine:

- Different types of connectors
- Different types of cables
- Different wire termination patterns
- Different wire colours

- In assembly mode, the operator can easily select a pre-programmed termination program.
- The majority of the mechanical adjustments during maintenance and calibration, are computer supported.
